The most anticipated corporate golf tournament of the year – The Mercedes Trophy Finals was recently concluded at Sealinks Golf and Country Club in Vietnam in the coastal town of Phan Thiet along the East Sea. The Mercedes Trophy is a global premium corporate event where 60,000 players from 60 countries participate each year.

From a field of 4,000 recreational golfers representing all country clubs, the seven top finishers who are also Mercedes car owners secured their place in the next round which is the Asian Final to be played in Australia. The best player of the Asian Final will then represent Vietnam in the WORLD Final in Stuttgart in Germany to conclude the season.

The The seven Finalists who qualified for the Asian Finals are: Hoang Quan, Nguyen Ba Canh, Vu Ngoc Hung, Banh Dang Duc Phong, Van Sy Thuy, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh and Phan Ngoc Hieu.

Highlights of MercedesTrophy – Vietnam Final 2011

The MercedesTrophy is a worldwide series of corporate tournaments now in its 20^th year of which Vietnam has participated in the past 9 years. With over 60 countries and over 60,000 Mercedes customers participating, Vietnamese golfers as well as Mercedes car owners are keen to be part of this global event.

The MercedesTrophy 2010 – 2011 in Vietnam has attracted more than 4,000 golfers with 21 qualifying golf clubs, two semi-finals and the Country Final. The series then continue to Australia and then onto to the World Finals by year end.

This year for the first time in Vietnam, in a single tournament Mercedes-Benz offered 4 hole-in-one luxury car prizes comprising two CLS, one E350, 1oneGLK and a bonus 5^th hole to win a newly launched C200 for a skills challenge held on the roof terrace of the Sealinks hotel which overlooks the ocean.

The Sea Links Golf Club is located in Phan Thiet City, some 200km from Ho Chi Minh City. Sea Links lies in the heart of a breathtaking area of the countryside. It is built on an area of 160 hectares on a cliff with beautiful sand dunes. It looks over the ocean, with panoramic views of Mui Ne Bay, creating a particular appeal for golfers.

Vietnam’s emerging wealth embraces golf in a big way!

The season opener of Mercedes-Benz’s corporate Golf event began this Spring at Vietnam’s SongBe Golf resort . This year 24 country clubs nationwide are expected to participate with over 4,000 golfers representing Vietnam’s elite. Last year there 17 golf clubs in operation where close to 3,000 golfers participated in the Mercedes Trophy. This growth in remarkable considering golf is a relatively new sport in Vietnam and embraced for the most part by the upper class of society.

The game is rapidly gaining popularity and the country’s coastline arguably boasts some of the best golf landscapes in south east Asia. Designs by Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie and Lee Trevino feature prominently around the country. As infrastructure improves it expected up to 30 courses additional courses may come on line by 2020.

The Mercedes Trophy is a global premium corporate event where 58,000 players from 43 countries participate each year. In Asia players players compete to participate in three key events. A Country Final where seven best players proceed to the Asian Final (All expenses paid to Australia). The best player is chosen from each country goes on the World Final in Stuttgart Germany.
